About the film
A farmer nurses an injured stork back to health. What begins as a small act of kindness becomes a story of care, companionship and the bond between one man and one bird.
In a village in North Macedonia, a farmer named Nikola takes in a white stork with a broken wing. He feeds it, shelters it, and slowly the two become inseparable. Around them the fields are worked, the potatoes are sorted, the seasons turn, and the storks that return each spring to the rooftops carry an older story with them.
The film draws on a Macedonian folk tale about a man turned into a stork. It stays close to Nikola and the bird, grounded and unhurried, and lets the larger questions of migration, belonging and how people and animals share a landscape arrive on their own.
Streaming in the U.S. on Disney+ and Hulu since January 2026.
